A Beautiful Sight!

 

 

The most exciting part of today was the red folder we got in our orientation! It had a new picture of Lainey in it and more updates! She is sooooo beautiful and looks and sounds so healthy! It brought tears to our eyes. In the afternoon we visited the Forbidden City and Tienenmen Square and a Silk Factory. Right now we are getting ready to go to a Chinese acrobat show. I have to go but could not wait to post this new picture! Only two more days!!!

Our first day in Beijing!

 

 

We started the day by going to the Great Wall. What a sight it was! It had rained in the morning so it was overcast, foggy, and muggy. We climbed as far as we could until our bodies said, NO MORE! Next we went the Jade factory. It was very interesting. Jade is very important to the Chinese and their culture. Next we visited old town Beijing. It was a very eye opening experience! When we got back to the hotel we ventured down the street to the outdoor market. Here the people sell everything! And I mean everything! So needless to say Dave I decided to forgo supper. Tomorrow morning we have our orientation and then we visit the Forbidden City and Tienenmen Square. We are getting closer to Gottcha Day!!!

June 30- orientation meeting and tour of Tiananmen Square & the Forbidden City

July 1- fly to Wuhan City

July 2- Gotcha Day!!!

July 3- paperwork

July 4- free day:)

July 5- Lainey's 3rd birthday!!!

July 6- pick up Lainey's passport & fly to Guangzhou

July 7- Visa paperwork & Medical check

July 8- free day

July 9- more medical checks

July 10- Visa appointment and Oath taking ceremony

July 11- Visa pickup

July 12- ride train to Hong Kong and fly from Hong Kong to Chicago

July 13- fly from Chicago to Omaha & meet the girls at the airport!!!

Countdown...from Abbie's point of view:)

9 days until my parents leave for Omaha 10 days until they leave for china 15 days until Lainey is forever in their arms<3 I can't believe it's already here! After 1 1/2 years of going through the adoption process Lainey will be home in just a few short weeks!!! Yay! Her suitcase is Already packed and ready to go. It's kinda weird to see hello kitty and Dora cups and bowls in the cupboards but it's a good change. Can't wait!:) - Abbie P.S...I finally talked my mom in letting ME do a post!

Leaving in 3 Weeks!!!

Our Travel Approval came and looks like we will be heading to China in 3 weeks. We will start out in Beijing then travel to Wuhan City to meet our daughter. Gottcha Day is July 2nd (the day we get Lainey!) She will be turning 3 on July 5th, so that means we will get to celebrate this milestone with our new daughter in our arms. Now the next 3 weeks will be spent making final arrangements for our travel and also for the girls who will be continuing their busy lives at home while we go get their new sister. Can't wait to go get her! After 18 months of paperwork and patience, our journey is finally happening!!!

Evening With Friends (Main Topic: Adoption)

 

Tonight we went over to Matt and Lori Allmand's house. They are adopting a little girl from China too. The evening was filled with great food and lots of questions about traveling to China for Matt. He has been to China several times and is going again soon for work. He is so intelligent and full of great information. Hard to believe that in 3 months we will both have our new daughters and become neighbors as well!!! Funny how God works in GREAT ways!
